A little about me

Tech help from someone who has time to explain it twice.

I spent three years as the tech tutor at the Spreckels Center in Coronado, where I taught iPhone classes and hosted tech workshops for the community. Between that role and helping folks around town in my own time, I've worked with hundreds of Coronado seniors. So chances are good we've already met, or a neighbor of yours has.

I help Coronado seniors get comfortable with the technology in their everyday lives: the phone that won't stop notifying you, the tablet that's just confusing, the TV remote with far too many buttons.

I get around town on my e-bike, Coronado proper or all the way out to the Cays, so I can usually be at your door the same day. There's no tech jargon here, and no judgment for asking "the basics." We go at whatever pace feels comfortable to you.

If you'd rather not have a visitor, that's no problem at all. I'm happy to help over the phone too.

What I help with

If it plugs in, lights up, or connects to Wi-Fi, I can help.

Here are the things I get asked about most. Don't see yours listed? Ask anyway, chances are I can still help.

Phones & tablets

Setup, confusing settings, slow performance, or just "how do I do this again?"

Smart TVs & streaming

Setting up Netflix, fixing a TV that won't connect, untangling the remotes.

Computers

Running slow, confusing updates, lost files, or anything else that's not working right.

Scam & password safety

Spotting scam calls and emails, and getting your passwords organized and secure.

Video calls with family

Setting up FaceTime or video calls so you can see the grandkids whenever you like.

Printers & Wi-Fi

Printer won't print, Wi-Fi keeps dropping, or anything else that "just won't work."

Picking your next device

Not sure which iPhone, iPad, TV, or computer to buy? I'll help you sort through the options in plain English.

Choosing & setting up e-bikes

Trying to pick between e-bike or e-trike models? I know the different options and can help you understand and set up the built-in programmable settings. (Note: I don't do mechanical bike repairs.)

AI

Learning to use AI

Curious about ChatGPT or Siri's new tricks? I'll show you how AI tools can answer questions, write things for you, or solve little problems, all on your own, no experience needed.

Common questions

Good to know before you book.

Do I need to know anything beforehand? +
Not a thing. Just have whatever device is giving you trouble nearby, and we'll take it from there together, one step at a time.
Is this safe to have someone come to my home? +
Yes. I'm a local member of the Coronado community, and many of my clients are introduced by neighbors or family. If you'd feel more comfortable, you're always welcome to have a family member or friend join the visit, or we can do the whole thing over the phone instead.
What if I don't know exactly what's wrong? +
That's completely normal, and most visits start exactly that way. Just describe what's happening as best you can when you book, and we'll figure out the rest together when I arrive.
How do I pay? +
Payment happens in person after the visit. Cash or check both work. There's nothing to pay online ahead of time, and no cards needed.
Can my family member book on my behalf? +
Of course. Many visits are booked by a son, daughter, or friend. Just include the best contact phone number when booking so I can coordinate the visit.
